Creature Painting

my first proper photoshop painting in a long time, trying out new skilled learned while working with some very talented artists in BrownBag. I'm hoping to do some more paintings like this, I'm quite happy with this one. it started off as a rough sketch and then painted up in a couple of hours. below is the process i used.

Custom Yamaha ERG 121

hey all!
ive just recently finished doing a custom electric guitar.
my old glossy black yamaha, it had some scratches on the body which gave me an excuse to strip the thick acrylic laminate off it and do my own designs. originaly i was going to do a paint job but then discovered the coolness of wood burning ( or pyrography- greek for 'fire writing')

Final BBF Sculpting Class

attended the final sculpting class in work on tues night, i had an armature ready and just started sculpting, i then decided it to be a D9 prawn (Wikus to be exact, he's missing his thumb) its not fully accurate, its missing a limb joint and some proportions are off but i was working from pure memory and all in 90 mins :)

Creature Sculpt Update (again)

Update on my 'dino' sculpt, which has now become a large flightless bird. i am now working into the final details in plasticine after which i will mould it in alginate and cast in hard wax to do some ultra fine details, then mould in silicone and pop out resin casts. i've started again on the Rider, now back to a more humanoid figure, update on that soon :)

Brown Bag Sculpting Class Update

another quick sculpt from the sculpting class, w had an hour and a half to do a sculpt based on a piece of text, i saw the words 'mermaid on a amber throne' and went with that. we had to sculpt from scratch with no drawing or concept, just a straight sculpt. :)

Brown Bag Sculpting Class

since the lifedrawing classes in work came to an end we have started a new class, sculpture. we have been working with sculptor Una Kavanagh.

week one, just working with paper making paper models, this was my favourite out of 3 i did, a cuttlefish, took about 10-15mins to make

first class working with clay, two 25 min sculpts working from a life model

this week, a single 50 min pose and sculpt, i chose to focus on the torso and used some regular plasticine as i personally prefer it over water based clay.

Noodle is growing up!

i just realised how big my pet snake 'Noodle' has grown over the past few months. this first photo was taken a week after i got him in September..


and these following photos were just taken today, you can see how much he has grown in 7 months!!
